This is decent quality at a decent price...Oct 30, 2004

I just bought this carrier yesterday to bring a new cat home in. I picked it up at the local Petco store for about two dollars more than it is listed for here. While at the store I checked out all of the different models and brands. Though I was not impressed with any of them, the color scheme on this model was nice and the plastic moldings on this brand seemed just a bit better than the competition. So far, I am pleased with the purchase. This thing was easy to assemble (there are only three parts) and now that it is together it seems stronger that I would have guessed it would be. The handle is good quality and strong and the built in storage compartment in the top is a nice feature.
Unless you want to spend a lot more, I recommend this as the best buy out there!

company needs to give real measurementsMay 23, 2009
By Alexis Sudin This carrier is not as wide as described! The floor width is only 9" across. It might be 15.2 at the widest area but that is in the middle of the wall, not where the animal lays. I saw in the picture that the walls slant inward, but I thought the floor was where the measurement was being taken from. I have a 5LB cat who when I put her in the carrier was not able to turn around or lay down on her side. She had to lay upright on all fours. When I called the company they were helpful as in talking me into keeping it or send it back for a bigger one at my own shipping expense. I pointed out the carried was not the dimensions they claimed... well, that's nice, pay shipping and we will sent a bigger one. Since I already paid almost half the cost in shipping, I decided to keep it for kittens, which is all it has room for.

Happy Cats!Jul 05, 2006
By P. Hartman I ordered 2 of these kennels and they are great for my cats (9-12 lbs). I had a larger kennel before and the center of gravity wasn't good because there was too much room for the cat to move around in. This is a nice sturdy product.

WARNING - not for the size and weight recommended!!!Sep 12, 2007
By Vee If I had bought this for the size of pet they recommend, I would have returned this item. It is definitely not worth the original $40 price. The plastic is of thin quality and the food and water dish included is ridiculously small. Also, the door rattles horribly in the car!! THAT BEING SAID, I did buy this for my little Chihuahua, who is only 3lbs but a little too tall for a small sized kennel, and this kennel works perfectly for him. If he were any heavier the handle would come off and the bottom would sag - but since he's tiny this kennel is perfect for him, I would def recommend this item to anyone needing a taller kennel for a tiny dog with longer legs. But NOT for any pet over 5lbs!!!

Pink is Pink!Jun 15, 2008
By Cassi2m I recently purchased this for my daughter. She is adopting a puppymill rescue 5 month old Chion (Pappillion chihuahua mix). The pup has not used it now, she is in route to pick her up 2 states away.
What I've noticed with this type of cage are the following: 1. I would not suggest this type for flight or airlines. I do not trust those clips on the side. Do you see the gray clips on the side? You lay the unit together, placing the door in the holes and once that is together, you slide those clips into place. I have this same in a gray for my dog here at home, when he is sick I have to kennel him.
As you slide those in they do lock, however I do not trust plastic clips to hold a cage to keep my animal safe from either 1. being dropped out if they fail or 2. a bird in case it opens and the bird can fly away. I also have a small blue unit made by another company.
If and when I carry an animal in this, I would support the bottom. I have seen people come into the vets office with these holding their cats, kittens or puppies and I cringe thinking that it might pop open. I am not saying that they have or that I have knowledge either way, but to me, it's not made strong enough to do that.
I also have the more expensive kennels which are fastened with screws and nuts. That is the type that I have flown my Toy Manchester Terrier mix from El Paso to South Korea in 1986. The plastic is a thicker gage and it contains metal to hold it together. I had faith in those and will carry those by the handles, but always with care.
If you are after color and a carrier that you can use to house your animal when you are away, I highly suggest this one because it will serve your purpose.
I hope that has be clear enough and helpful to you. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
