 Best Travel Crate on EarthMar 25, 2008

I looked at a lot of portable crates before choosing this one. It turned out to be the least expensive of those I considered, but that wasn't what sold me. I was most impressed with the light weight and the handy carry bag. I was not disappointed. Not only is this crate easy to carry, it assembles and breaks down in no time at all. My 18 month old Lab/Shepherd puppy was delighted to have this roomy crate (bigger than the metal crate she sleeps in at home) with lots of ventilation. It even has pockets on the oustide. I did have to use my own crate mat, as the one supplied was a tad flimsy and had no padding whatsoever, but other than that, I couldn't be happier with this crate. On a recent cross-country road trip, it was a snap to pop this crate open and collapse it the next morning. And did I say how light weight it is? I wouldn't recommend this crate, or any other canvas portables, for aggressive chewers or puppies with boundless energy who don't enjoy being contained. I also wouldn't expect to be placing anything heavier than a box of Kleenex on top of the crate, because it would surely collapse. But for my purposes it was perfect. Highly recommended, and a great value!

The size of this crate is perfect for our station wagon, so that is the main reason I bought it. Our dog spent a lot of time trying to chew it apart and did not get very far, but did manage to expose some metal rods in the bottom seams and a plastic floor which we then had to remove. The crate worked fine without them. Three stars for the zipper breaking after only a year. That was not chewed on and should have held up. It also has a strong plastic/vinyl smell that is still there after a year of airing it out.

Love this kennel! Bought it for our younger golden retriever because we take our dogs on trips with us and we are still kennel training her. Its easy to zip together/or take apart and it makes travelling a breeze!It has tons of pockets and the carry case is the best! 5 Stars! We are buying a second one, since our older golden is jealous. You will need to put a different bed in since the one provided is just a piece of fabric over a piece of plywood. But no big deal. We were able to fold the kennel up with her regualr bed still in it!

Althought I really like how easy the crate is to set up, break down, put in its carry case... and it is a perfect weight/size to put in your trunk and carry in and out of the house. Unfortunately though, my boxer easily ripped a hole in the mesh of the door the first night and then busted through. I am still keeping the crate as she likes laying in it (I had to put down an additional bed as the one that comes with it is very flimsy) but i will need to also gate her into the room. It is still much easier to bring the crate and the gate with me on trips than to drag her 50 pound metal crate!

I have two of these which arrived at the same time. One is perfect still and on the other the zippers failed after the second use. Very disappointed since I would really love it were it not for this.
