5Worked for cat with IBD with problems for 9 monthsFeb 23, 2011
By R.C Green "Jada"
Flagyl helped some with IBD but you can't use it long term. I was desperate when I bought this after many frustating vet visits and cleanups I tried this. I gave this a few times a week off and on and it definitely helped. I was prudent in watching how much I used. Too much causes constipation. I gave with .5ml with a small syringe and kept a close eye on my cat's stool consistency

The cat was not happy with the taste but shooting it down toward the back of her mouth got it down. I also stopped feeding dry food eventually switched to Whiskas Roasted Turkey wet food. Between the two we now have solid stool. I'd also suggest the probiotic Acetylator mixed with food to support bowel health it has helped too. Yahoo groups has a Feline IBD group if you need help or support for this problem.

FYI A cat that is constipated may limp or walk funny and also cry at the litter box and around the house. This may require a vet's attention don't let it go long. The same goes for diarrhea they can get dehydrated and develop vitamin deficiencies that definitely can need a vets attention.

5Definitive diarrhea solution for dogs!Mar 22, 2010
By Henrietta
This product is great. My family adopted a beagle from a rescue shelter about a month ago. Her stools were fine for about a week. It took her quite a while to "settle down" in her new surroundings and she developed diarrhea, I think as a result of stress. She is still on a diet of boneless chicken , boiled white rice and about a tablespoon of canned pumpkin. This diet has helped her to firm up her stools. When she initially had loose stools for a period of time I tried pectillen for three days - a tsp. a day- she only weighs 20 lbs, it cleared the problem right up. Now I will eventually wean her off the chicken and rice and pumpkin and start her on a wheat-free, chicken meal based high quality dog food like canidae or blue buffalo. I will have pectillen on hand always. It is made from natural ingredients, pectin and kaolin (clay) - nothing else. It is also very inexpensive.

4It helps!Dec 28, 2011

This product really helped out my German Shepard. He has developed a bit of a sensitive stomach after we adopted him. We believe it was due to the food we started him on. This really firmed up his bowel movements. The service suggestion seems a little high. We did just fine on a tablespoon (or less) a day. He wouldn't drink it by itself, but will scarf it down if it's wrapped in some lunch meat. Right now he's on new food and doing well!

5This is working when nothing else was!Nov 24, 2011

Out of the blue my 8 yr old Shih Tzu developed what I call "pudding poop" which
does get every once in a while but never lasted as long as this. Sometimes it had the appearance
of an orangy gel. Weird. She had been on Solid Gold food for
a couple years with no problems. I do know she eats a lot of weird things outside like rabbit and
cat poop (my neighbors cat uses my dirt driveway as a litter box). Vet tests found nothing abnormal
so it's a mystery as to what caused this but the dog had pudding poop for a couple of weeks
and my house was literally carpeted in newspaper because she'd have to let go all the time.
Anyway, after reading and trying all the remedies online (boiled chicken, plain boiled rice,
pumpkin, plain yogurt, probiotics, etc) I read about this stuff and thought I had nothing to
lose except a little money. Well she has been on it for almost 48 hours now and her poop is
starting to be so much firmer so I'd say it's working. I'm just worried that when I stop
feeding the pectillin that we will be back to the pudding poop again. I plan on gradually getting
her back on the "Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit" after the three days of the pectillin.
May never know what caused the pudding poop but can say I don't think it was her food because
she had been on the Solid Gold for at least two years. If the pudding poop comes back I'll
be looking back online for more help.

5It actually works!May 31, 2011

Our American Staffordshire Terrier just turned 10, and in his golden years has developed quite the delicate tummy. Every time he snatches something off the floor, they fertilize the lawns, or just out of the blue he will get a bout of diarrhea. Usually it lasts no longer than 2 or 3 days and will resolve on it's own. But we decided to transition his food from a home-cooked diet to a more stable commercial diet, as we felt it may help his stomach. The results were explosive and going on for a week before we decided to look into something a little stronger than pumpkin and yogurt. I am always skeptical of OTC stuff at pet stores but recognized Kaolin and knew it does help animals with upset tummys. So we got Pectillin, though there are other brands on here that have the same ingredients and would probably work just as well, Pectillin is was we bought because of the reviews, we also bought it at a major pet store so we could just get it faster, and I think cheaper than an Amazon if you take shipping into consideration. It worked within 24 hours and we used it with pumpkin and yogurt to give it a best shot, the pumpkin adds bulk to the stool and yogurt adds beneficial bacteria to help make sure the diarrhea doesn't come back. It is now 3 days after taking him off of it, but still keeping him on pumpkin and yogurt and he is now doing great on his new food with no tummy upsets yet! Great stuff, highly recommend. Be careful though, don't keep giving a lot after you see formed stools, it can cause constipation if you do.

Of course this product only works if your pet has an irritated stomach, so if it doesn't work within the 3 days take your pet to the vet because it could be due to a parasite that this would not do anything for.
