Great grooming toolMay 21, 2009

I have been volunteering in the grooming department weekly for the past 10 years at a very large animal shelter. I have encountered every possible coat on a dog over the years. I thought I have tried every tool invented.
I now have a goldendoodle who has an ultra soft coat which matts on a daily basis. I have been brushing her 2 times a day until I purchased this dematting rank. It completely stripped out the whispy, tangled soft fur at her skin. I did not subject my dog to the tugging all at once, I divided it over several session. The rake goes to the skin then it definitely requires some pulling to get the hair completely out. I ended up with a bag full of fluff. Now I can get a pin brush through her coat without it snagging. Petsmart grooming department said I should either totally shave my dog (which I refuse to do because her coat is so beautiful at 4 inches long) or use this dematting rake. So I decided to give it a try.
Her coat looks exactly the same as before except the undercoat is completely gone. I presume it should be cooler for her in the summer too.
She is now 2 and my only regret is that I didn't buy this tool the day her adult coat came in a year ago. I can't say enough about this tool-- it's cheap compared to the $65 Les Pooches brush (which I also love but it only works well after using the dematting rake).

Best dematting tool I've ever found for our Chow dog. The long "teeth" allow us to comb her more quickly than other designs, and the rake design makes it much easier to use than "comb" designs. Easily cuts through matted fur and undercoat without excessive pulling of her fur. I highly recommend it for any dog with a thick undercoat.

Great product for your hard to comb dogJan 12, 2008

This dematting rake has been the best thing I've found to comb through my Maltipoo's thick, curly coat. I find that especially in Winter when his coat is really thick, he mattes like the devil even if I brush him daily. This rake removes them easily and most importantly, painlessly. The ergonomic design makes it easy to use. He no longer runs when he sees the brushes coming out. Highly recommend this item.

We own two Rough Collies and have been grooming them about twice a week witn a long-toothed curry comb. It has worked satisfactorily, but it was physically straining on us and on the dogs. This dematting rake with the soft grip has made life easier on all of us. We can now comb the dogs out without strain on hands and wrists. And the dogs no longer complain about the comb-outs, either! Excellent product! If you have long-haired dogs, give this a try.

This is the best de-matting brush I have come by for my beloved sheep dog. The rakes on this brush are a solid 2 inches or longer, and very easily take out large matts, and fast. I would highly recommended this item if your dog has long hair that is susceptible to matts.
