Truly "everlasting"Jun 29, 2009
By "avid reader" I have a Great Dane/Weimaraner who is an incredibly strong chewer. This is the only toy I have found so far, other than a traditional Kong, that she wasn't able to destroy in 5 minutes. She has had this one a couple months and still enjoys it. The "squeaker" is still going strong.
She also likes the Kong "Squeakers" (Football and Tennis balls)but, unfortunately, she is able to puncture the cover and kill the squeakers in a matter of moments. One of the Footballs did last a few hours before she killed the squeaker.
She does seem to prefer the texture of the Kong "Squeakers" better than the JW but once she kills the squeaker, she loses interest. I highly recommend the JW Squeaker Bone if your dog is a strong chewer and enjoys toys that squeak.

Durable but bad squeakerJan 24, 2011
By Percy Smogg Toys usually don't last long with my dogs (chessies). The JW toys do hold up well. I've gotten these rubber bone toys before, and they had good squeakers that didn't break easily. However, the latest batch of three I ordered from Amazon all came with bad squeakers. I tested a couple of samples at Target, and they had bad squeakers too. It appears that JW has outsourced to a different maker who can't do the job right.

I purchased the red bone. It's a nice solid squeaky toy for your dog to chew on and it will hold up well with fierce chewers. The only thing that does not attract my dogs to it is that you can't throw it and it doesn't bounce. My dogs prefer the round balls of which I have a small, medium and large from this company and they are very, very durable. The squeaks hold up nicely as well. I highly recommend these toys in all shapes.

Killed the squeaker in less than 1 hourNov 10, 2010
By Heidi I have a Lab / SharPei mix. I would not say she is a hard chewer - she likes to chew things that squeak, but doesn't ordinarily destroy them. I guess she liked the vanilla infusion on this thing, because she chewed the end right off in less than one hour. Now I have tiny blue plastic pieces all over the carpet.
We got some other chew/squeak items in the same order that are more pliable, and she is having fun playing with them. The bone, however, is history.

Rubber is too hardJun 16, 2010
By Paul Brill My beagle chewed the end of this thing in a matter of 4 or 5 minutes. He never even figured out there was a squeaker. I figured the rubber was just way too hard, so he started chewing on it like any other bone. Once he got the end off and I took it away from him, I saw plenty of teeth marks in it.
Just because the rubber is hard doesn't mean it's good.
