 Henrietta is making my dog CRAZY!!!Sep 21, 2007

When I first found Henrietta in our local feed & supply store I thought, why not, Karma loves things that make noise. Well, BIG mistake. She immediately took it out of the bag and started honking away. Actually, I don't know who liked it more, her or my husband. Anyway, we're on #3 now and have a spare hidden away. Thanks for the entertainment.

Our Newfoundland's best friend, besides usJan 28, 2010

Our Newfoundland, Sirius, is 2 1/2, so she is over the puppy stage. I saw this toy, and Sirius had to have it. Evidently Sirius agrees, because it is by far her favorite toy. Henrietta's squeak is significant, but Sirius pretty much keeps her quiet. And if you give a dog a squeaky toy, you can expect noise. Sirius carries Henrietta around with her, and tends to keep her near, or at least knows where she is, because when we ask, "Where's Henrietta?" Sirius will go and find her. Sirius sleeps on the floor of our bedroom, and the first time she wanted Henrietta to come with her to bed, we said no. So Sirius quietly went downstairs after lights out, and brought up Henrietta and laid her down where Henrietta would be safe and quiet. No squawk.
Sirius was never hard on her toys, even when a puppy. The Madame Destructo urge was taken out on vinyl flooring, leather gloves, cardboard boxes, toilet paper and the like. And she is a Newfoundland, and they are naturally gentle, laid back and well-mannered. But she loves this toy very much. The large is the right size for a large dog. Sirius weighs 121 pounds. I read about Henrietta's being shredded, but we have seen none of that. I don't think I'd have gotten her such an expensive dog toy as a puppy, but for an adult large dog, this is ideal.

Our dog just loves this toy! It's his all time favorite. Like other reviewers, we limit his time with it so neither the chicken nor our hearing is destroyed.

I Bought this dog toy for my Labrador he absolutely loves it. i got other chickens like this but lasted less than a week. this chicken has the sound coming from a tough tube in the neck that does not break as easily as the other ones that have a small plastic one between the legs, that breaks as soon as the dog bites into it. I recommend it for anyone looking for a durable fun toy for your pet.

We got this squeaky toy along with some others, and although it didn't hold up more than a month (which is why I docked a star), it was TOTALLY worth it. This toy is unique in that the noise it makes (a ridiculous one) happens when the air fills the chicken back up. So, the dog pounces on it and chews, and just when the dog leaves it alone, the horrible slow sound of a chicken dying comes out. It's perfect. The fact that it's unpredictable to the dog makes it really fun for them, and the silly look & sound of the thing, and the enjoyment the dog gets out of it, makes it fun for the people.
BTW: we use the naked squeaker on walks to get our dog's attention & it works even when there's a squirrel, a low-rumbling car and another dog. The noise has real staying power.
