Not a bad product, but could be more sturdyNov 02, 2010
By 123 First off, i don't think you should pay as much for this product, maybe half as much as what it costs. It's probably better than the dog houses you buy at walmart, petco or other stores, but it isn't as sturdy and heavily made as i'd expected. First off, most of the pieces are stapled on, so you might want to go and buy about fifty nails to re-enforce everything. Also, none of the pieces of wood are thicker than 3/4 of an inch. It really needs big, heavy support beams. I suggest putting one up top going from the front to the rear of the house, and also four heavy beams for each corner.
Another thing is that the door is not offset, having an offset door helps keep wind and cold from getting in, i placed a sheet over half the door. The house is pretty light too, only about fifty lbs for dogs ranging 70 to 100lbs. I think a house should weigh more than the person or animal living in it.
It was easy to put together, took about an hour and a half. All the pieces were there, some of the wood had cracks in it already.
Another thing i didn't like about it was that the roof is very slanted. My dog likes to get on top of her old house and lay there, i don't know if she can do this on that one.
All in all, this is a good frame for a dog-house. I wonder how it will hold up to the elements and how long it will last, i'm thinking not as long as the amount i paid for it. But i couldn't find any other houses and i don't know how to build one myself. I guess i'd just say "IT NEEDS MORE POWER!"
